Germans Record Breaking Run continues, will face Home-side Brasil with all guns Blazing!

A first half-header from defender Mats Hummels was enough to see of a sluggish France side to book their record fourth successive World Cup semi-final place in the Maracanã. On a rather soft Free Kick conceded by France, the Borussia Dortmund centre-half expertly guided Toni Kroos’ inswinging cross past Hugo Lloris in the 13th minute to put an end to the run of redemption of Deschamps’ France.

There was almost a late equaliser for the French, a typical coincidence for this World Cup, with Benzema seeing his angled drive pushed away one handed by the imperious Neuer, who once looked pretty cool on the pitch saving Germans on numerous occasions.

Brazil saw off a their South-American opponent Colombia in Fortaleza, with centre-back pair Thiago Silva and David Luiz getting the goals for the Selecao. Luiz, who completed his record-breaking £50m move to PSG last month, put the hosts 2-0 up with a stunning set-piece from range, as he was seen screaming all over the pitch a few moments after.

It was truly an extraordinary hit, struck with his instep at the exact centre, as the ball swirled away gloriously over the despairing dive of Colombia keeper David Ospina. Though the game ended 2-1 in favor of Brazil, but they were not exactly impressive as James Rodriguez scored a late penalty. Here is a video of David Luiz‘s stunner!

Now they have to face a strong German side, without their Captain Thiago Silva and their star player Neymar. Silva who received his second yellow of the tournament, will miss next match whilst Golden boy Neymar was brought off on a stretcher as the clock ticked down, with the Barcelona attacker receiving a painful knee to the lower back fracturing his Vertebrae ruling him out of the World Cup on his home turf.

Liverpool adamant to let go Suarez only if they get £80m or any deal worth that much.

Adios Suarez??

I heard today that Reds chief executive Ian Ayre has finally agreed to meet a delegation from Barcelona in London today. Is this the starting of the end of Luis Suarez‘s Liverpool spell? Well we’ll get to know more about it in 24 hours. Meanwhile Barcelona’s Sporting Director Andoni Zubizarreta said:

“He has been humble enough to apologise to those he has affected because it happened in the middle of a festival of football. In this case it’s the best thing a person can do.”

Seems Barcelona are ready to buy him soon and don’t want to give Real Madrid a chance to grab him. But Liverpool are not ready to let go of him cheap. They want an offer at least worth Suarez’s value. It is understandable if Sanchez becomes a part of the deal, as he can be a worthy man for Liverpool’s forward duty. I also heard that they are also keeping tabs on Mario Balotelli, if Sanchez deal fails.

On the other side Reds has finally completed  £25million move of Adam Lallana from the Saints yesterday and it was nice to see him thanking his fans and his old club, where he spent past 14 years,  in a full-page advert today in the Southern Daily Echo.

Adam Lallana’s full page advert!

“14 unforgettable years, the memories will last a lifetime. Thank you Saints fans for your endless support, a place in my heart forever.”

Lallana, who has signed a long-term deal with the Reds – believed to be four years – had joined Southampton from Bournemouth in September 2000 as a 12-year-old.

World Cup 2014 Predictions: Round-of-sixteen Day-1.

With FIFA World Cup Round-of-sixteen fixtures starting from today, Lets have a look which of the remaining 16 teams has a good chance of progressing through the first knockout phase of this World Cup.

Round of 16-Day 1:

Brazil vs Chile (Saturday, June 28):

The hosts will be up against vibrant Chileans who surely look motivated after their tremendous victory over defending Champions Spain. However Brazil fans are also happy escaping a fixture with Netherlands or Spain in the knockout phase. Neymar and Sanchez will be the players to lookout for as they are capable of turning the fixture in their favor on their own. Neymar has scored 57% of Brazil’s goals in this world cup and has been involved in the majority of their attacks in this tournament. If Chile are to reach the quarter-finals for the first time, they need to find a way to stop this Barcelona forward.

As Brazil has never lost to Chile at home, surely the odds are in their favor. This won’t be an easy game for the hosts as they are yet to reflect their best game in this edition of World cup, but my bet, Brasil will emerge victorious.

Prediction : Brasil 3-1 Chile

Colombia v Uruguay (Saturday, June 28):

Colombia, after topping Group C, are now up against a bite-proof Uruguayan side in the second match today. The nations have met a 38 times till now, Uruguay leading the way with 18 victories, but Colombia are coming into this game after netting nine times in the group stage and only conceding twice, surely this is looking likely to be Colombia’s chance to raise their win-tally to 12.

When Uruguay lost to Costa-Rica in their first group game, Luis Suarez was still recovering from injury, and they looked considerably weakened by his absence. And now they are back in a Suarez-less situation after his contribution of just two games. He made all the difference in the England game, but after his biting incident in a game against Italy, he had a profoundly negative affect on the Uruguayan camp, so expect morale to have taken a blow.

Predictions: Colombia 2-1 Uruguay

Liverpool to sell Luis Suarez, as he faces Nine Games ban!

Luis Suarez has been handed a record ban by FIFA Disciplinary Committee which could now end his Liverpool career.

image

Following an incident that occurred during the FIFA World Cup match between Italy and Uruguay played on 24 June 2014, the Uruguay international has been given a four-month ban from all footballing activity and nine competitive Uruguayan games, starting with Saturday’s last 16-clash with Colombia.

Suarez, who was found guilty of biting offence for the third time in four years, was shown no mercy this time around by FIFA and Liverpool has to suffer the most due to this. Not only will he be disallowed from even taking trainings at the club, but this Premier League golden boot winner will miss 13 Liverpool matches, including their first three UEFA Champions League fixtures. This will he a huge blow to Brendon Rodger‘s side and their title challenge as Suarez missed start of the previous season due to a similar incident involving him biting Chelsea’s Ivanovic‘s hand which was the last time he did that.

According to reports from The Telegraph, Liverpool want to address this scandal issue as soon as possible. I guess this Anfield club will be willing to sell Suarez, either to Barcelona or Real Madrid, if one of them meet his release clause, understood to be somewhere between £65 million and £80 million.
